Pathways to work

Pathways to Work is a community support project delivered by Citizens Advice Doncaster to help residents overcome the financial, personal, and practical challenges that can make moving into work or training more difficult. It provides early help, dedicated one‑to‑one advice, and tailored support to make sure people feel stable, confident, and ready to take their next steps.

The project brings together:

  • a drop‑in advice desk at the Civic Offices for urgent help, information, and triage; and
  • a specialist adviser who works with people experiencing more complex or longer‑term barriers.

Through this project, we help people:

  • reduce financial pressures and manage money more effectively,
  • access support for debt & energy costs
  • improve housing stability,
  • overcome digital exclusion,
  • understand their rights and options,
  • link into employment, health, training, and community services,
  • build confidence, resilience, and readiness for work.

Pathways to Work is designed to offer holistic, person‑centred support that recognises the whole picture of someone’s life — not just employment‑related challenges but also the everyday circumstances that affect wellbeing, stability and opportunity.
By tackling these issues together, the project helps people feel better prepared and better supported as they move towards employment or training.
