At Citizens Advice Doncaster, we know that digital access is no longer a luxury, it’s essential. From online learning to job applications, benefits, and support services, being digitally connected can transform someone’s opportunities.
That’s why our Device Bank exists, to make sure people who need a device can get one, without barriers.
A key part of making this work is our joined‑up approach with the team at People Focused Group (PFG). Their lived‑experience‑led support and deep community connections help us reach people who may not otherwise access our digital inclusion service. Together, we’re ensuring that families across Doncaster can get the tools they need to move forward.
Recently, this partnership enabled us to provide a laptop to Marie, who is studying to become an Autism Peer Support Worker while caring for her children,
Marie shared the difference the device has made:
“This is going to make a massive difference to my mental health as it has enabled me to be able to work from home with no distractions. It will also relieve pressure on our daily routine. It will improve my wellbeing as it will improve my son’s life, having an overall impact on our lives. The laptop has enabled me to study again after 18 years and this will improve my chances of employment and improve my self‑esteem.”
This is exactly the kind of impact our Device Bank aims to create, supporting people to learn, work, care for their families, and improve their wellbeing.
A huge thank you to the fantastic team at PFG for their ongoing collaboration. Their commitment, insight, and lived‑experience approach are vital in helping us reach people who need digital support the most.
Together, we’re not just providing devices, we’re opening doors, strengthening communities, and helping people build brighter futures
