Money & Pensions Service (MaPs)
We deliver high‑quality, free, impartial advice that helps people improve their financial security, navigate major life challenges, and access the support they are entitled to.
Our services, funded through national bodies such as the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) and local authority‑funded Welfare Rights project, create measurable, life‑changing outcomes for thousands of people every year.
Through our partnership with the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), a UK government‑sponsored body responsible for improving national financial wellbeing, we deliver specialist money, debt and pensions guidance to people across our community.
MaPS provides free, impartial guidance on money, pensions, and debt to help people improve financial wellbeing, and is also the largest funder of debt advice in England.
Its public‑facing service, MoneyHelper, ensures people can access clear, accessible financial guidance online, by phone, and face‑to‑face.
What We Deliver Through This Partnership
We translate national financial wellbeing strategy into local, accessible support, offering:
- Impartial money and pensions guidance, helping people understand their options and plan for the future.
- Specialist debt advice, enabling clients to manage arrears, stabilise their finances, and reduce crisis situations—funded through MaPS’ national debt advice programme.
- Support with retirement decisions, including preparing clients for Pension Wise appointments and helping them understand how pensions fit into life changes such as redundancy or bereavement.
- Guidance for people facing life events such as relationship breakdown, job loss, or bereavement, helping them navigate financial impacts with confidence.
Together, our Money and Pension partnership and Welfare Rights work ensure that people in crisis or financial insecurity receive joined‑up, expert help that:
- increases income for low‑income households,
- prevents escalating debt and poverty,
- reduces pressure on statutory services,
- improves wellbeing and stability,
- enables people to engage more fully in work, education, and community life.
