Continuing Our Work to Tackle Fuel Poverty: Our Partnership with the British Gas Energy Trust

We’re pleased to share that our important work with the British Gas Energy Trust (BGET) will be continuing, allowing us to keep supporting households across Doncaster who are struggling with rising energy costs, debt, or wider financial pressures.

BGET is an independent charitable trust focused on reducing the impact of poverty, particularly fuel poverty, and supports people across England, Scotland and Wales regardless of their energy supplier. Through this partnership, Citizens Advice Doncaster Borough is able to provide specialist, practical support that helps residents stay warm, stay well, and stay financially secure.

What this ongoing partnership means for our community

Residents will continue to have access to:

  • Free, specialist energy and money advice  Including budgeting support, income maximisation, benefit checks, energy tariff reviews and help negotiating with suppliers.

  • Support with applications for essential grants  Such as BGET energy debt relief grants, emergency energy vouchers and help with essentials like white goods.

  • Local, accessible 1‑to‑1 support  Delivered through our community‑based services, ensuring people can get help in person, online or by phone.

  • Guidance that helps prevent future crises  Supporting households to understand their bills, improve energy efficiency, manage finances confidently and reduce the risk of falling into debt again.

Looking ahead

We’re excited to continue delivering this vital work for our community. Fuel poverty remains a significant challenge for many households, and our partnership with BGET ensures that people in Doncaster can keep accessing the right support at the right time.

Together, we’re helping residents take control of their energy use, reduce financial stress and build long‑term stability.
